Smart Ride
The SMART RIDE program encourages people to be safe by thinking ahead and designating a sober driver. Retailers, small businesses, wait staff, and volunteers work together to encourage patrons to use the SMART RIDE program.
SMART RIDE enables groups of two or more people to designate a driver who agrees not to drink alcohol. Participating establishments provide free soft drinks or coffee to the designated driver and, at the end of the evening, present the designated driver with a coupon for free or discounted food/admission for use at his/her next visit.
Participating establishments' staff actively engage patrons to participate in SMART RIDE, by asking groups of two or more to identify a designated driver. Establishment staff then provide free coffee or soft drinks and monitor the designated driver to make sure he/she is not consumming alcohol.
